Oven roasted okra1/1/2024 ![]() If you don’t want that much spice, you can omit the cayenne pepper. The Cajun seasonings I used were basically the same seasonings as I used for my Blackened Catfish. Don’t eat the caps though they are not that good! After the okra is cleaned, toss the okra in lemon juice, olive oil, and Cajun seasonings. Roast for 35 minutes, stirring once or twice during cooking, until the okra is charred and crispy. Stir to coat, then spread out in an even layer. Oven option Turn the oven on to 425 Place okra on a baking sheet, and place in the oven to defrost while the oven is preheating. For a crunchy outside, let it go a little longer. Roasting okra gives it an optimal texture. Watch the time carefully to retain some of the green color and crunchiness. Bake at 400 or 425 degrees Fahrenheit for roasted okra that is less brown. But if you like it more dry, then space apart the okra while baking. Bake for another 3-5 minutes or until pods are softened. Space the sliced okra closer while baking, for a more moist Indian style okra. Bake for 5-7 minutes and turn okra over onto the other side. Ingredients 3 pounds fresh okra pods 3 tablespoons olive oil 3 tablespoons lemon juice 1-1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 3/4. Place okra on a rimmed baking sheet and top with olive oil, salt and pepper. Combine all dry spices and toss with okra. Also, I leave the end caps on the okra to bake them this also helps with the slimy factor. 6 cups okra, sliced1/4 cup olive oilkosher salt and freshlycracked pepper, to taste. The trick to making sure okra doesn’t get slimy is to toss it in lemon juice. Okra can sometimes be slimy, especially if you are not going to fry it. My husband is not from the South and LOVES IT!
